Nicktor's news

By Nicktor

Oh dear dear dear.....

I was so confident that the game was going to be called off whilst lying in bed listening to the thunder and watching the lightening and driving rain at 9.00 this morning, that I booked a game of golf for this afternoon.

Golf got cancelled, I got sunburnt, and Liphook and Ripsley 3rd XI received lessons in how to bat and bowl.

Truth be told, the whole team would have been better off playing golf today as Rowledge humbled us. Fielding first, we got off to a dream start when Connor bowled probably the worst delivery he has ever bowled. It landed 3 feet in front of him and left a one inch pitch mark before sailing slowly and very wide towards the batsman who bizarrely got a nick on it, and Adam took a sharp catch. 1-1 was probably the only time thereafter that we were in the game. Rowledge reached a huge 231 in their 42 overs with Under 14 player Aidan (10 overs for 39 runs) and Under 16 Tappy (2-37 from 8 overs) being the only Liphook bowlers not hiding from the updated averages on Sunday morning.

Rowledge's opening bowler, Curly Watts, proved to be extremely difficult to play, taking 4 wickets for only 14 runs in his 10 overs. And ultimately the rot set in early with 5 batsman back in the pavilion with the scoreboard on only 50. Richard gave it a go, but when he was out for 25, it looked bleak. The tail wagged briefly but in all honesty, the damage was done, and Liphook were well beaten.

Me - I got a duck :-(

Now - where's the aftersun?
