It's a Journey....

The Old and the New

This old bridge used to carry both automobiles and railroad trains across the bay from Duluth, Minnesota to Superior Wisconsin. In 1961 the new Blatnik Bridge was opened. It is 120 feet (37 m) above the water to accommodate the large ships. The Minnesota side of the bridge has been maintained by the city of Duluth. We have never been down here and were delighted to see that we could walk out onto the bridge. You are able to view freighters coming into the harbor and small boats coming and going. It is also used as a fishing pier.
We left home early this morning. As you can see there is fog on Lake Superior today and a very white sky. We drove along the shore and stopped at many places to take photos. The fog and clouds make things quite interesting. We are in our hotel now and will go out to try and shoot the sunset this evening.
