Raging Root Beer

This is the St Louis River as it passes through Jay Cooke State Park in Carlton, MN. After a snowy winter and a rainy spring, the river is flowing strong. The water in this river is often referred to as root beer-colored because of the iron in the ground and the water.
We are standing on a brand new swinging bridge that replaced a bridge blown out two years ago by the largest flood on record. Standing here and walking along the river, I cannot imagine how high and mighty the water was to do such damage.
