Back to the 1940s
Had intended all week to have a quiet day today to recover from the stress of yesterday. However Stuart told me about a 1940s day in Brighouse - he had read about it last Sunday and thought we might enjoy it while he was at work.
We did a park and ride and got on an old fashioned bus into the town centre. It was a great event but, probably due to the washout yesterday, it was absolutely heaving. Trying to battle through crowds and not lose Lottie made it very difficult to look at anything properly. The one place we did manage to stop and look at properly was one of the music spots - we saw a lady singing first time round, and then an impersonator doing Al Jolson among others. These servicemen were enjoying the music.
There were some fabulous costumes, everybody certainly entered into the spirit of it all. Will definitely watch out for it next year if it is on.
