Another Happy Birthday
What a weekend for Birthdays. We had Grandmothers on Friday and today it is Pentecost at church which means its the church's birthday.
Not any one specific church but the church as a whole. It was quite a nice service this morning and my photo is of our church window. We also had birthday cake not just any ordinary birthday cake this was an M & S cake.
After repenting my sins this morning I went back to church tonight to continue my learning of the 10 commandments. Tonight was commandment no 6 You shall not murder! Our session tonight was all about managing your anger. We watched our dvd of J John again, he is good. We then had to identify ourselves from the three common expressions of anger. these are the manic, who are people who explode, blow up and throw things, the mute, who are people with repressed anger who are holding in their anger, and the manipulator who are people who retaliate in an underhand way with sarcasm, jibes, little insults and hurtful humour. I decided I was all three. I can throw things, I can sulk for days and I can burn toast on purpose! but as I burn toast anyway no one would notice if I did it for spite!
I learnt tonight that it looks as if I may have to forgive someone. As once I forgive them I may not feel as angry.
Now the bible says do not take revenge but leave room for gods wrath "it is mine to repay",
however, if your enemy is hungry or thirsty we should feed and water them. Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.
So I will forgive (it will be difficult!), I shan't forget but I will forgive, then that way I will get some peace and God will take care of the rest.
I was disappointed to miss last weeks session as it was about relationships and my thoughts of marrying Bruce Springsteen are as bad as having the actual affair with him. But I can live with that. I'll pray for forgiveness.
I do enjoy these sessions, they are thought provoking, there is some humour and some serious things too. I'm not trying to make anyone religious and neither am I making fun of my religion, i do believe, I have my faith and I believe there can be humour in a serious subject. You just need to watch J John on You Tube to see that.
A Happy Birthday to the church.
