Luang Prabang
Breakfast and then off to the Elephant Village today for an hour with ellies, anyone who knows me will know my love for everything elephant!
Myself and Janette had a ride on our ellie Mae San down to the river and across where Janette then sat on her neck for a wander across the little island then came back to sit in the basket with me to recross the river.
It was then my turn, here you can see I've just got seated and we are setting off uphill! It's no easy thing to hold onto an elephant with just your knees!
We rode back through the village (our mahoot going off shopping for a drink at one point) and all the way back to the village and down the hill (eek) and back to base camp.
It was a wonderful experience. All the elephants have been rescued from logging works and only do a couple of rides in the morning before resting and being allowed to play freely. we then had a boat ride across to an island to see a mother and baby - separated from the others currently as mum is very protective!
Lunch and a swim at the village before transferring back to our hotel and I had a lovely afternoon walk and chocolate ice cream before we all went out for our group dinner.
