Down yonder green valley ...
I think it is safe to say that today the weather was most acceptable! This was the view around midday, looking due south in the depths of the Sands of Forvie Nature Reserve.
A feature of the reserve is that over the years a series of mobile sand dunes have gradually moved northwards The dune in the distance, a monster the height of a 4 storey building, is the latests in the series. The green area with the yellow flowers was once occupied and farmed by bronze and iron age families and the surface is littered with flint fragments and other artefacts, including saddle querns that they used to grind cereals.
