MonoMonday: Mail Boxes – Missing the Post
Mail boxes in the UK do not have quite the same connotation as mail boxes in NZ, or Ausie or even the US of A. Ours are where you post your letters to go with the Royal Mail.
This one was erected after we lost our village post office, and the original box in the shop wall had to be replaced. The post you see to the left is actually an ‘Ancient Monument’, Rippingale’s Butter Cross which I blipped back in March 2014. Legally the mail box should NOT have been planted so close to the Butter Cross, but the Post Office are a law unto themselves and in spite of numerous complaints to the relevant authorities they got away with it . . .
