Shoes
It was a cracking morning, quite warm, sun shining, so I decided to park farther away from work and enjoy the longer walk into the office. Fast forward nine hours, still warm, raining quite heavily, I got a bit wet "enjoying" the longer walk back to the car.
I stopped for some shopping on the way home, and came away with a new pair of shoes. It's my fourth pair in little over six months. Several years ago, I bought a pair of shoes for £5, which became known as my "cheap shoes" at work, for obvious reasons. The value was incredible though, because they lasted years.
I thought I'd repeat this with another pair of cheap shoes last autumn, and got barely six weeks wear from them (the last pair I'll buy from Tesco), so I went more expensive in the January sales and that pair lasted just five months before the heel gave way, and made me squeak with ever step. So, fingers crossed for this pair...
I don't know what's happening. I've either been cursed for enjoying those "cheap shoes" for such a long time (shoemakers' karma); developed warped feet that need specialist pieces of kit; or the extra walking since we moved office (although it's hardly a long-distance trek) is taking its toll. Maybe I need to change into walking shoes for the walking part of my day.
