Whispers of a moonlight bay...........

Be still, open your heart and your eyes...breathe!

I had a lesson in appreciating beauty tonight. Usually, in winter, I am rushing to get home around dark, feeding the family and settling in for the night as the darkness descends early and the temperatures fall.

I rarely stay around to appreciate the time after sunset however tonight the moonrise was shortly after sunset and rather than being active looking for angles I chose a spot and pretty much stayed put.

I have not really appreciated before how much richer the colours in the rock become after the light fades from the sky. A short time before this shot, the rock looked almost black and lacking in fine detail as the light above the horizon was still so strong even though the sun was setting.

In the end the 15 minutes watching the light develop on the water, the colours radiating from the cliff and the sky soften were pure bliss....... a lesson in staying until the "action" is over....often the aftershow is better than the headliner!

Moonlight Bay
by Darlene Belcher

Waiting in the shifting sands, across a moonlight bay.
One can only whisper the say.
To dream, to wonder, to imagine, to love.
The whispers of a moonlight bay.
I sang of no sorrows,
I dreamed of no fears,
I danced of my joyous of souls.
To dream, to wonder, to imagine, to love.
