My Dads Hobby
One of the earliest memories I can recall is the strong smell of developer and fixer from my dads darkroom.
We always had one, be it a closet, converted bathroom or finally a full darkroom we built in the sideyard. It was a lab for black and white processing because my dad was colorblind and found no use in color prints(or color TV). He worked evenings as a janator at the local elementary school to support is hobby. On this, my tenth day of Blip, I started thinking that I should rotate my iPhone camera or the trusty point and shoot with a digital SLR with some different lens, filters etc. I braved the dangers lurking in the catacombs of our storage room and came down with a few boxes of my dads old film camera stuff. The gems in this photo are just some of items I found. There is also a large box filled to the brim with thousands of black and white 35mm negatives dating back to the early 50's. The enlarger, trays, clocks and other darkroom supplies are long gone but the smell of the developer and fixer will be with me forever.
