Deserted Sun Deck
Backblip
Not wanting to miss a minute of the last day in Basel and on the Rhine, we packed last night, so we were up with the lark this morning to watch all the goings on on the river and the other ships. Most of the others were still at breakfast, so we almost had the sun deck to ourselves, a first for this trip:-)
Fond farewells were said and addresses swapped as we all departed at different times and in different directions, depending on where we were going to. We had a short coach trip to Basel Airport for a direct flight to Edinburgh, but some had much longer journeys by TGV to Brussels and then Eurostar to St Pancras before their onward journey home. Some brave Irish travellers won't get home until tomorrow afternoon, which seems a very long journey at the end of a holiday.
All agreed that it had been a wonderful holiday and being on board the MS William Shakespeare for her maiden voyage was really rather special. It's just a pity we didn't get a certificate to commemorate it:-)
I hope you've enjoyed the journey with me and that some of you might be persuaded to make a similar trip in the future (maybe when you're a bit older!!) I can thoroughly recommend it and will now be looking at other river cruises for the future. I've switched Comments back on again, so feel free to let me have your thoughts on the holiday:-) I'll catch up with you all soon.
