World Gin Day

Luckily one of my friends let me know that today is world gin day.

You see more about this

The Netherlands and Belgium have their own special version of gin known as jenever, which is said to be the fore runner of the modern gin we drink today.

Jenever is still a very popular drink in the Netherlands, but is drunk as a pure spirit usually at room temperature and without any contaminants like tonic water. The town of Schiedam near where we live is famous for production of Jenever and has many windmills which were used for crushing the juniper berries which give gin and jenever its unique ( and delicious) flavor

More information on jenever can be found here
