The 59 steps of Sharpham House rise up to the base of the dome, which is painted a paler pink than the hall and landing walls and decorated with gold leaf.

The acoustic would be so fine for Tudor church music. Makes me want to sing! I have restrained myself but have tapped up the wooden bannister rail listening to the variety of sounds that come from its wood

Today I walked to Point Field and understood why it was voted the most beautiful field in England. Within it is an old stone barn with trees growing out if its walls. Beneath it the River Dart widens and turns on its way to Dartmouth and the sea, which is where I'll sail to tomorrow.
