Imperial Palace, Petropolis
Monique and Dilson came to take us from Rio to Petropolis, which is also Monique's home town.
Petropolis is located one hour from Rio, in the mountains; hence the temperature is always some five degrees lower than in Rio, and the scenery is lush, green.
For us the lower tenperature was not a problem, it felt so fresh and clean outside today. Petropolis is a city of 300 000 inhabitants. There is a former royal summer palace, nowadays Museu Imperia, established by emperor Pedro I.
What we did today was polish the jakaranda floors of the royal palace. This because each visitor to the palace has to ski around in funny felt soled slippers when admiring the furniture, crown jewels and the ceremonial wardrobe of the emperor.
In the evening we will have dinner with Monique and Dilson, tomorrow A will take a bus to Maracana for the football match between Argentine vs. Bosnia-H.
