Flower Fairy

Over the Pergola, above Chavo's seat, climbs this lovely Clematis ( name forgot ). It's vigorous enough to weather snail damage( unlike several 2year old plants that have succumbed ) & ironicly the flower is almost larger having not been fed this spring : explain that to me please!. Tell me please how the rest of you get Clematis really going ?: I'm tired of throwing money at Snails.
