like father, like son

after having to say goodbye to kyle and emily (headed home after their trip to argentina), linked up with my two favorite translators, silvana and veronica, and their families to celebrate the new year.

what a wonderful night of asado (bbq), drinks, so much catching up (been far too long since i've seen everyone), and festivities. perhaps the best part was finally being able to meet the wonderful family members i have heard so much about for some years now.

here, marcelo and his boy, matias (vero's two favorite boys) are bringing in the new year correctly, with garden fireworks. what a nice change of pace to be outdoors with short sleeves for the new year - a man could certainly get used to this.

after the initial celebration at midnight with the families, then the fun really started. friends with their families popping over at 2, 3, even 4 in the morning to celebrate 2010 together - loads of laughter, and good times for all. definitely better than the go-out and get get rooked on 'amateur night' that i, and i'm sure many others, are accustomed to for new year's celebrations.
