off to the races

happy new year! spent the most of this first day in bed (as is custom in buenos aires), wandering out later when hunger finally struck.

i nearly forgot that that the dakar was kicking off today, but once i neared avenida 9 de julio, where it was estimated that over 300000 people visited today, i was quickly reminded.

as i learned, the actual start of the race is tomorrow. however, this send off in ba was pretty neat to watch as well. here's a portuguese team preparing to head out. good luck racers!
