All good things ...
Actually, although this photo was taken at the end of a glorious day and so justifies the conventional end to the title, it also contains some of what I consider the best things about living here. There's the interesting coastline - you can see the Island of Bute and behind it Arran, my favourite place in the whole world. There's the Cal Mac ferry, one of the lifeline services in this part of the world, just arriving in Rothesay Bay. And there's Rothesay itself, of course, home of our sister church.
But above all, in a way, there is the chance to walk by the sea in the stillness of the early evening and meet not a soul. The temperature at 6.30pm was still 26ºC, and the south wind was warm and more like a southern European afternoon breeze.
And then we were able to go home, drink wine in the garden and enjoy our dinner to the sound of birdsong and music. All this and heaven too ...
