'Carpet of Flowers'
Today I met my daughter Kelly in Arundel (wow...twice in one week)! We went to see the Festival of Flowers in Arundel Cathedral. We had coffee in a lovely little Tudor restaurant...then walked up the steep hill to the Cathedral. There was a bit of a wait as there were hundreds of people waiting to go in..and they were only allowing a certain number at a time.
For over a 100 years Arundel Cathedral has celebrated the feast of Corpus Christi with a festival of flowers, which includes a carpet of flowers in the central aisle of the Cathedral. There were numerous floral displays around the Cathedral. Flower arrangers are invited to take part and are given a free hand in the design. I spoke with a lady involved, who told me they started on Monday with the greenery, then spent all day yesterday (Tuesday) arranging the flowers. It brings the Parish of Arundel together during this time.
After a good look, with cameras going non stop.. we went to the Black Rabbit...our favourite pub on the river, and had lovely Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper Soup for lunch. We always enjoy each others company..but school hours dictate Kelly's time....she had an hours drive to Southampton and I have an hours drive in the opposite direction. Precious moments!
