Beside the seaside, beside the sea

In spite of the overcast day, we went to the seaside at Royan. Funny how all the things that seem corny at home - like Punch and Judy, buckets and spades and fairground rides - all seem more appealing because you're in France. Had a great day, just larking about on the beach.

One of the really striking things in the town was the church, which looked like a cross between the space shuttle and a set of organ pipes.
