..........Isn't it ironic?........

I'm drinking a Scottish beer from a Belgian glass to drown my frustration with England and their abject World cup campaign.

I've heard all the experts giving their opinions....well here's mine.
A goalie like a rabbit in the headlights.......didn't come for crosses and went down far too early for the second goal.
A defence with more holes than a trawler's net.
A midfield comprising the most over-rated English player of the last 15 years and a bunch of kids from his team who have had one good season and now believe they are the bee's knees.
A forward line who couldn't hit a cow on the arse with a banjo!

.......and before you start I'm including Rooney in that analysis..........even if he did score.

Now I could be wrong about why England are so bad............but consider this......it's the fault of the FA and the Premier League........Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea............three of the top four this season.

Have a guess how many players those three teams supplied to the England squad...........6.......two each.........City, a keeper who wasn't first choice for much of the season and a player who never got on the pitch..........Arsenal one player who didn't get a game and one who came on as a sub twice for a total of 30 minutes........and Chelsea one of the leaky defenders and a player who never got on the pitch.

Now guess how many they provided for other teams......................City 7........Arsenal 8 .......and Chelsea 12!!!!!!.....including four of the Brazil team.

Not exactly developing British or even English youngsters are they?

Why...........because after the Premiership started.......and United dominated........Blackburn started the rot with a sugar Daddy...........and now those three teams...plus others........have decided winning the title is all important....and the way to do it is not to develop your own players but to find a foreigner with more money than sense and just buy up any player you want from any where in the world...money no object.

If you think I'm making it up....go check the BBC website..........it lists every player for every team in the World Cup...........virtually every team has at least one Premiership based player.......but the teams that are performing best are those who have most of their squads based in their home country.......Germany, Holland etc........all except England.

Rant over....time to drink some more........and try to sleep
