Bellagio

After a couple of days of (misleading) weather forecasts promising slightly dodgy weather, today's forecast is good so we decided we should take a walk.

We take a ferry over to San Giovanni, the photograph shows the church built in about 1785. Not the ideal time for a photograph as the sun is shining over to the west bank in the morning so the church is in the shade, and I have to take this into the sun.

We walked from here to Bellagio, San Giovanni itself is a suburb of Bellagio. The walk takes us past the Villa Melzi. The villa was built in 1806 and still belongs to the family who were allied at the time to Napoleon. In northern Italy Napoleon was seen seen as an ally in the attempt to liberate this part of the country from Austrian rule. The gardens are open to the public, but it is approaching the time where lunch seems a higher priority.

The route to Bellagio then takes us past a restored 1930s lido. We finally arrive in the touristic part of Bellagio to think about lunch. On our return to the apartment we find we have walked roughly six miles. At this rate I will be signing myself up for the next Kiltwalk
