Goodbye Ocean
Some final vacation thoughts:
Everyone knows that vacation/holiday isn't absolutely necessary. Life won't end without it. But who among us would choose to live without it? Vacation/holiday moments give us something to look forward to. Be absolutely sure that the two of us know that it is an indulgence. We are more than thankful for the pleasure we've experienced.
This morning we woke to this spectacular view of the shoreline below us knowing that we won't see that angle again any time soon. We've savored it for four mornings -- opened our eyes as wide as we could so we wouldn't miss anything.
A brisk breeze was blowing and yesterday our daughter had told us the wind was more than brisk back home in the Inland Empire, and it had gathered all the dirt, dust, haze, and smog into a tube of ugliness sitting on the ocean between the mainland and Catalina Island, but the island was still more than visible.
We ate breakfast, gathered our things, re-packed the car, and about mid-day we gathered momentum and lifted off toward the future.
I love vacationing, but I also love home. So it is never a penalty or a bring-down to come home. This evening we are enjoying the warmth of the fire and all our our "stuff" and in a little while we'll crawl between our own sheets and sleep sound in the comfort of our own bed.
Then to clear any confusion . . . yesterday's photo included one of Laguna Beach's plein air painters, so commentors asked if I am an artist and I must let you know that I am not an artist. I had no intention of insinuating that. I am sorry for the confusion.
Also I have been asked if Bob dog vacationed with us. Yes, we stayed at a "Pet Friendly" hotel so Bob dog was with us the entire time. He would ride the elevator to the 5th floor with us and we brought his own cushy bed and his chew bone. Because he no longer sees well, it was difficult to get him down the final cement stairs to the beach, but we did, and he laid on the sand as we sat to soak in the afternoon sun. When we went walking through the community, Bob stayed and napped in the car in the cool of the covered car park.
While we believe that vacation/holiday times are a luxury, we also believe that they are life-enhancing. These 4 days we've tried to drink every drop. We've arrived home full and overflowing. Touch us and we'll ooze with delight!
Good night from Southern California.

P.S. In these past few days I haven't commented much through the pages of Blip. I hope to get to do more now that we'll get back to a schedule. Thank you for the fun and meaningful comments left on my pages. Blipfoto is a fabulous community.
