Folk Festival 2014

4years 244days

Every year since Katie was 18months old we have been to our town's annual Folk Festival. This year was no exception. It was wonderful to see how it has grown, how Katie has grown in that time too. It was a fabulous day out. Granny and Grandad joined us like last year. We arrived late morning but Katie had decided it was lunch time. We had a very tasty picnic (we are getting good at collaborative picnics!) beside the main tent. There was a World War I tribute taking place. There was a lot on around the War Horse, including a reading by Michael Morpurgo yesterday. Katie went in to "meet" the horse after the show had finished. We heard later that Mr Morpurgo himself had been around as Katie was backstage with the horse too.

We then spent 2 happy hours in the children's marquee. We made a necklace, did some felting, colouring, she had her hand painted, she chatted with a friend. We listened to some story-telling, she joined in the singing and lead the dancing. She played in this year's willow den. And later, after being allowed to paint her friend's face, she had her face painted, watching through a handheld mirror.

We headed back into the sunshine and had a drink in the sunshine. We danced to a band on the Main Stage before heading back to the children's marquee. Her little friend Poppy arrived too. They made butterflies. They made festival garlands for their hair. I made a necklace. Katie has had such a wonderful afternoon and loves the chilled out vibe of the festival.

Granny and Grandad came home for an early tea & a celebration of Grandad's birthday tomorrow.

I have now backblipped from Thursday onwards
