Iceland Day 8 - Solfar and the midnight Sun

After our final dinner in Reykjavik we then took a walk along the waterfront after midnight to see the 'sunset' on the solstice night. Lots of people were walking about and enjoying the evening. It was very strange being up so late with an eerie sort of twilight. We found the Solfar (Sun Voyager) sculpture on the waterfront.

We took some photographs of this. It was a popular place to spend the solstice evening, and it was hard to get pictures without people, but I have chosen this one as I liked how the two people were sat together enjoying the moment.

This blip was taken hand held on my compact camera just after midnight!

Now the long journey home begins this afternoon (after a spot of shopping).

Iceland has been an amazing place to visit, and I have had so many amazing and brilliant experiences that I shall never forget, and it has been a great group of people that I have been spending it with, one of whom is now a new blipper WinstonTales
