Awa' ye go, ye mug ye

Left Kirky this morning to travel further west and to pop in on the parental home.

I am the offspring of parents who have proudly embraced the Scottish culture throughout their lives and encouraged their children to do the same. I was brought up in a household where Scots words were the norm; being told to 'pull up yer breeks ye wee besom' tripped off the tongue, the chanter was the wailing instrument of choice in the house, and if anyone on the tv dared to pronounce the 's' in Auld Lang Syne as a 'z' they were chastised as being completely ignorant. To top it all, if I wasn't being called a besom I was being called a wee scunner.

In retrospect, really quite offensive, but then again, ah didnae ken any different!
