The lotus blooms


I wish I could say that this is just one of our water lilies.
Not so.
It is the only one in our pond.
Its got lots of tadpoles and some frogs for company though.

Because the lotus, or water lily, grows from the mud on the bottom of ponds and raises towards light, it is considered as a symbol of enlightment and a favourite subject in Japanese hailku.
