The Candle at the Docks

This is The Candle' . It's a 21m high sculpture at Gloucester docks.

It's designed by Wolfgang Buttress and has lines from the poem Requiem by the Gloucester writer Ivor Guerney engraved around the base.

It's the first time that I have been to Gloucester and I'm surprised at the size of these inland docks which have now been transformed into offices, shops, cafés, apartments and marina.

Quite impressive wandering around at dusk.

Some of the characteristics of the old port still remain. Lots of noisy seagulls and the big brown rat that was scuttling along the quayside!
