All over the place...
Today started normally at work. Then I made my assistant cry. Oh dear. I didn't mean to. It was a good thing in the end (for me at least) as she did at least start to explain a few things and I do now believe her intentions are honest but I'm still not convinced we're going to get where we need to. I was glad to escape at 1pm. I bet she was glad to see the back of me too.
I raced over to Thame in the glorious sunshine to meet C at her architect's office to look at the four options she's come up with for remodelling their new house. Very exciting. I got to play with Teddy. Bonus.
We then had a long catch up and discussed the drawings etc. over an iced coffee in the local Costa and then I whizzed over to Oxford to pick up an old uni friend, A, who texted me out of the blue this morning to say he was in Oxford overnight and was I around for dinner. How fortuitous, me being in Thame already. Perfect timing.
We found a great table on the river at the Trout in Wolvercote, complete with ducks on the wall next to us and seagulls fishing in the river. It was a bit expensive food-wise but it was lovely to spend a couple of hours catching up. A is a senior lecturer in Archaeology, which is fascinating to me as a private sector office worker. He's an expert in Turkish archaeology and regularly accepts summer jobs on private yachts as the resident expert guide on posh tourist trips round the Med visiting ancient sites. Lucky chap.
After dropping him back at his digs, I got home at about 8.45pm, watched a bit of footie with L, who was mainly asleep on the sofa, and then realised it was nearly dark and I'd taken no photos all day. After all that interesting stuff I've done, I'm annoyed. So you have a night time view from my bedroom window.
