The Courtyard
Today we visited the old Back-to-Back houses in Birmingham, a courtyard surrounded by the homes of earlier inhabitants of the city. This particular set of buildings dates back to the 18th Century, but is now a National Trust showplace. We were guided around four of the houses, each with three levels and some VERY narrow and angled stairs, each house representing life as it was lived between seventeen hundred and something (I forget the exact year), and in blocks of several decades right up to the recent modern era. Indeed, the last resident left in 2001, apparently. Very interesting, but we were only allowed to photograph the courtyard outside, simply because the tours were conducted at 15-minute intervals, and any hold-ups would snag the following group(s).
This Blip is just one of several photographs I took. The subject speaks for itself.
