Back in the UK
Despite the French air traffic controllers strike and an hours wait in the plane on the runway last night we did make it back to the UK. Which is just as well as we are due at my step daughters wedding on Saturday .. and arrived to a cool evening so that change in temperature was a bit of a shock but a lovely day today. Another step daughter arrived from Australia this morning and Mr A picked her and her boyfriend up while I went to pick up Reggie from the Vets where he has been kept in the mortuary till my return. I thought my emotions had calmed but when the vet in reception greeted me and asked what I wanted I could not get the words out at first. She knew pretty quickly and returned with a large brown box with a cat ribbon on it and his name .. so I brought him back to our home here in the UK and buried him in the garden along with a shrub rose. You might just see that through a beautiful rose named confetti which we were given at our wedding and now practially covers one wall of our barn.
So I feel tired but I think it is the emotions of the day. And as Kendall said in one of beautiful comments I am the fulcrum of endings and beginnings this week .. so I gave the photo a painterly feel just to soften the occasion.
