U-Bahn München: 37/100 Holzapfelkreuth
Munich underground: 37/100 Holzapfelkreuth
Holzapfelkreuth underground station was opened in 1983, 10 years before the next station along the line - Haderner Stern underground station - was completed. Together with the stations at Westpark and Partnachplatz, which were also opened for the IGA, Holzapfelkreuth stands for a first step towards a more colourful and artistic interior station design. Earlier stations were mostly plain and functional and suffered from an utter lack of colour. Holzapfelkreuth was the very first station in Munich where a colour gradient was used - the stations at Candidplatz and Dülferstraße are later (and bolder) examples of this idea.
The station makes a slight curve, so it was a little tricky to find a good angle. And I'm not really happy with the outcome.
