Hundreds of Pots

If we ever thought we'd have a hard time finding just the right pot for a fountain to replace the "foot pool" in our garden, we were disabused of that notion when we visited Garden Essentials today.

Although there are hundreds and hundreds of pots there, we especially liked a couple of one-of-a-a-kind ones (not shown here). It took awhile to settle on size, shape, color and design, and we still have to wait until the old pool is gone before we can make a final decision, but we certainly weren't lacking for choices--pots, glazed and unglazed of all sizes, shapes, colors. and designs.

There was a small display of fountains and pots made into fountains and "bubblers"
in front of a little wooden office. A woman sitting inside left us alone to wander around, but was also happy to answer OilMan's questions about pipes and hoses and pumps, and my questions about ease of cleaning. I decided that her small, wiry husband (the only other person in sight) had to have one of the most difficult jobs there is--single handedly lifting huge ceramic pots onto a trolley and moving them from place to place. The care with which he did it indicated concern for either the pots or his back!

There is a very mean looking dog in a small enclosure in the back corner of the property, who no doubt has the run of the place at night when it is protected only by a chain link fence. I'm quite used to seeing pampered pets roaming around nurseries and outdoor shopping centers and restaurants, but this fellow was clearly designed to chase off intruders, and not very pampered!

David and Pedro are coming tomorrow to examine the problem and figure out how to demolish the current pool--difficult because it is integrated into a four foot high retaining wall. It's not surprising that they both think we should put fish in it!
