Posing slightly on Praia do Cabo Frio
It was a beautiful day, so we decided to spend it on the beach. It is in the middle of winter for the Brazilians - that explains the very empty beach scene.
There were no other tourists to be seen, so we tried to play the role here. A had a beach chair with him as well as the Brazil guidebook, I read Donna Tartt's The Secret History, which I got from A as travel reading. The text seems quite similar to Little Friend, which I read earlier - dry and intellectual, but very interesting :)
In the evening we went downtown for dinner and were wondering about young kids running aroung with their faces painted all black. Turned out this weekend the people had some kind of a religious festival, which included huge religious motif paintings of coloured salt on the pavement, a pop band playing religious songs at full blast and stalls selling food and desserts. All in all a lot of colour and noise in a very nice, friendly atmosphere! A pity we did not take our cameras with us. I will enclose a shot from the festival with a later entry.
