Fossil Hunting
On the South coast of the Island is Hanover Point a popular area for fossil hunters where new treasures can be found with each tide.
The rocks here are the lowest and hence the oldest rocks exposed on the Island. Expert guides are able to locate dinosaur footprints and fossilised bones throughout the area.
The mounds of rock in the centre of the picture are in fact the remains of the Fossil Forrest which can be seen at low tide. Children love to go rock-pooling here and you can also search for fools gold in the crevices between the rocks.
On a barmy evening like this it is a wonderful place to explore.
