The South Side

I peer through the window
Of my daughter's former bedroom
The park-like view
Is dappled with sunshine
Purple bells on slender stems
nod very gently in the breeze
Overhead sumac shelters this spot
Protected from the road
And the neighbours
I find a moment to remember
Happy times and laughter
Now too far away to
Ever retrieve
