The Downspout Dilemma

Thunderclouds gathered again this afternoon
Churning up water vapors to fall as rain
In large, grateful doses...
On my deck, the downspout
Disconnected since last August
Supplies no measure of protection
In the downpour...
Rainwater splatters everywhere
Flooding the deck surface
Scattering the soil in the garden
My painter, who has orchestrated
These changes has already returned
Once to re-install my window covers...
All downspouts remain useless and out
Of commission until the paint job is completed
Do I nag or insist or remind?
Do I wait patiently for the time to be found?
I am not a very patient person.
