are you my mother?

I was amazed when Laney charged a doe on the other side of the fence that the doe came closer instead of running away.
Then Laney stopped barking and got closer to investigate. And the doe came closer still.
I brought Laney inside thinking the doe would leave but she just paced back and forth keeping her eye on Laney looking through the back door.
Finally Laney burst through the screen and ran out to doe, who then hopped over the fence and retrieved a baby fawn that was hiding in the neighbor's yard.
Mystery solved!
