Winning in the Rain

An afternoon at Newmarket Races for Harvey's 5th birthday. It was sunny when we left home but by the time we got there and set up, the black clouds had gathered and there was soon an almighty storm. We all crowded under the gazebos and stuck it out for well over an hour of torrential rain, thunder and lightning. Only the hardened race-goers ventured out from under the gazebos to watch the horses go by. It was such a shame as Claire had gone to so much trouble, it was a super picnic and the children still had a great time, despite the weather.

Great news for the birthday boy though, he bet his £20 Tote ticket on a winner which won him £94!!! (I'm not sure I've got all the lingo but it was something like that!?!?)

It was good to get home and put some dry clothes on. Stan's staying over and D's cooking steak. Tomorrow we have to clear our bedroom ready for the builders arriving on Monday.
