The Neglected Garden: 2.

So ...... not much we can do about the Neglected Garden at this point, given that we are about to abandon it again. But change is in the air.

A couple of years ago Son 1, allotment holder in Norfolk and proud chooser of perfect gifts, gave me a lovely notebook which seemed ideal for garden notes and I have since been using it faithfully, if in an amateurish way, for the cottage garden and all things gardenish ... like Monty Don's advice, the ideas of Gertrude Jekyll and poems about planting!

A major step today has been creating a section in this notebook for the Neglected Garden, concerning plans for professional help, our own hard graft and 'musts' for the autumn. This garden, 'created" (I have to laugh!) by us in 1976 when we were mere children and hadn't a clue, has never ever been the subject of a coherent plan. But now we are determined. Ignorant but determined

And yes, I do know that those are not the diamonds and varnished nails of a serious gardener. It will all change in the next couple of days. Meanwhile, back to neglect for this poor garden. Sorreeeee!
