Moggy Rally Day 1

Back blipping the weekend at Kelmarsh Hall in Northampton, where the annual National Morris Minor Owners Club was held this year.

We still don't own one, but you are still welcome to be a member and attend the rallies in whatever you have.

We first attended in 2011 and met the Scottish Branch then. We now meet up every year and spend an entertaining weekend with them.

Top left: The boys had arrived the evening before us ( after a 12 hour drive down ) and had set up Gazebo City using a gazebo, 3 tent awnings and 3 pods. This developed and grew over the course of time, mostly due to the weather. It kept raining and we needed more and more space to keep dry in, ie cook/eat in without getting wet. The back of the pods open up to reveal the compact, but well stocked, kitchen area, so there were plenty of gas hobs available and they had bought two bbqs with them and a large quantity of meat. I had pasta!

Top right: Garry with his rebuilt moggy. Two years ago he came in her when she was a bit of a rust bucket, coloured beige and with the wrong reg plate ( he found out a bit later! ). She is now restored to her former glory and won a prize on Sunday.

Middle left: " Quick quick pass me the telephoto lens !!! " Out of nowhere the only airworthy Vulcan bomber suddenly appeared overhead!!!

Middle right: Luckily the Vulcan flew over whilst we were still waiting in line to buy a delicious coffee from a nice young couple who travel around to events with their coffee machine in the back of their bright green Morris Traveller. We rationed ourselves to 2 visits to them per day!

Bottom left: Some people are very protective of their beloved Moggies!

Bottom right:
Now that's what you call a roof rack! Late on in the evening this Moggy was driven at high speeds round and around the field next to the camping area, skidding about and having a whale of a time! The Scottish boys ( I say boys, in their heads they are still boys, their bodies though are hovering around the half century mark ) quickly found some cardboard and pens and produced score boards to rate the spins!
