Brasília - the capital of Brazil -
- is to a large extent the creation of Oscar Niemeyer, a famous Brazilian architect who is considered to be a one of the creators of modern architecture. Here the National Congress Building with two houses on either side of the central towers.
We took a flight to Fortaleza today, and had a five-hour stopover in Brasília - enough to have a look at the impressive, but peculiar city architecture. There were wide avenues lined on both sides by similar block houses. It all seemed designed for those wide 50s and 60s cars - as a pedestrian it was terribly difficult to cross from one side of the avenue to the other.
