Queen of the Alps

Eryngium alpinum. Grows on limestone in the Alps sometime in great sheets where it looks sensational. It likes our limestone garden and this year is doing well. Over a period of a couple of weeks it develops this intense blue colour. Our specimen still has some days to go to reach its best.
