Back to San Francisco
Last day of road trip.
Started off with a quick trip to Carmel, it of Clint Eastwood mayoral fame. Nice quaint little place with extortionate property prices. Had breakfast there and then headed to the apparently world famous Monterey Aquarium.
It was pretty expensive and to be honest, it was okay. Not really miles better than any other large aquariums we've been to and not entirely justifying of the price. Highlight was the sea otters, I could have watched them all day. And the jellyfish section was pretty awesome due to the way they lit the tanks, they looked amazing.
Then off to our last stop before being back at San Francisco... The Santa Cruz boardwalk. Massive theme park thing... Quite impressive and ghastly at the same time. Had fish tacos for lunch which were rather tasty.
Then back to SF via lots of traffic jams.
Checked into the apartment we're staying in near Alamo Sq and it's really nice. We went to visit the Castro which was fantastic. We're going to try to go back and watch something at the Castro Theatre tomorrow.
Then back to the Hayes Valley area and had dinner at Suppenkuche, a German restaurant.
Weinerschnitzels and bratwursts later, in a very very busy and loud restaurant, we were super full and adjourned back to the apartment for a quiet night in with wine.
Off to Alcatraz tomorrow.....
