St Ann's Hill

St Ann’s Hill in Midhurst is the site of a Norman Castle, probably built soon after 1066 to safeguard the Normans’ newly established stronghold in Sussex. Only the foundation stones of the Castle remain, you might just catch a glimpse in the background of this picture. Ancient trees and fernsgrow among the ruins. There are some wonderful large stumps too, like these.

Posting and commenting will be a bit intermittent in the next few days, depending on when I find wifi on my travels.
