Town Hall
It rained heavy showers all night and most of the morning, so we didn't venture far until after lunch when the cloud lifting from the mountains offered some spectacular shots (often with an electricity pylon or similar in the way!). At the small town of Allevard in the foothills of the Belledonne chaine we discovered one of the most beautiful Town Halls we have seen, not architecturally but definitely botanically! Almost every building in the town had floral displays of some kind. A bridge over the river with a one way road had a wide footpath covered in AstroTurf ! There were tubs and baskets of flowers everywhere.
Outside the town hall was a water feature with a dolphin and child to commemorate 10 years of twinning with an Italian town. On the pavement around the building were marble slabs with the names, signatures and dates of service of all the previous Mayors with several blank ones for future names to be added.
A town with something to be proud of !
