Escape from the city

I was able to forget my worries for an afternoon by taking a trip down to East Lothian with a friend of mine. We began our journey with a stroll through a beautiful woodland near Pencaitland and finished with a late afternoon meal in Gifford. This is the church in the little town of Gifford. We wandered around the grounds for a bit and although there was a sign saying visitors were welcome in the church it was so deserted that we felt like trespassers and decided against taking a look inside. As we were leaving we decided to take a look at the food offering at the Goblin Ha, a restaurant and hotel just down the road. I was glad we did as we had a wonderful lunch in the back garden surrounded by sunshine and chirping birds, a well needed break!
