George Square Banners

The 2014 Commonwealth Games start in Glasgow in just under 3 weeks time, a fact that's impossible to ignore when one walks through the city centre.

I was meeting friends for lunch in Glasgow on Thursday, and as I hadn't been down to George Square for a few weeks, I thought I'd wander along afterwards to see how the City Council had transformed the Square for visitors and locals alike. There was a big marquee selling Commonwealth Games souvenirs, a giant logo-type sculpture - perhaps the subject of another photo over the next few weeks - and the ubiquitous banners that seem to have appeared throughout the city centre and beyond over recent weeks.

They are colourful enough, so they form the basis of today's blip.
