POSTCARD FROM LERWICK

If whoever lives in this house had a pound from each person who takes a photo of it, they would be rich, though it is so photogenic I had taken photos of it last year before it appeared on the Shetland TV series by Ann Cleeves.

The weather turned this morning for the worst. We listened out for the early plane to Fair Isle knowing that a lady travelling alone who had arrived there on Wednesday needed to get off the island today. Her flight had been altered from the afternoon one to the first flight this morning but there had been no guarantee that it would arrive to take her off. We were lucky with the timing of our trip as after hearing about people getting stuck on Fair Isle for days on end, it would have been awful not to have been able to clean and vacate this holiday cottage on time.

So today with the rain and wind it has been an ideal day to get packed up ready for leaving tomorrow. Though, as last time, we still didn't visit all the places and people we would have liked to. I blame the birds for that! We'll have to come back again, I hope.
